Getting Started Guide for Pro Members
So you've created an account and are ready to start posting content on the site. Now what? Follow these basic steps to make the most of the Toronto Yoga Guide:
- Ensure that you are registered as a Pro Member. On the Create new account page there are two account types: Pro Member and Regular Member. A Pro account is intended for Yoga teachers and studios, and is required for most of the following steps. If you have a Regular Member account and need the features of a Pro account, contact us and we will modify your account type.
- Personalize your account. Follow the Manage my account link in the sidebar to add a picture (avatar) to your account and provide a brief bio about yourself. Your bio is different from a profile as it is specific to your member account. When you post content, such as blog entries and forum posts, a link to your member account page appears at the top of the post. To personalize your account click on the My account page and select the Edit tab.
- Create a profile for yourself or your organization. You can create a profile for each entity you represent. For example, you may be a Yoga teacher and manage a Yoga studio. Therefore, you may wish to create a profile for yourself and a separate profile for your studio. Instructions on how to create a profile are available on the form.
- Create an event listing. Now that your profile is set up, you can post listings for your workshops, classes, retreats and other events. A profile is required to be able to post events. To create a new event, click on the Event listing link in the sidebar. This screen looks much like the Create Profile page, but has extra fields specific to your event, such as date and cost. Be sure to select your profile in the "Presented by" field. You may create as many event listings as you wish.
- Create a new blog entry or forum topic. In much the same way as you created profiles and event listings, you can also create blog entries and discussion forum topics. Simply select the appropriate link in the Create content menu.
- In addition, you can also leave comments on other posts and rate content via the 5-star rating system
If at any time you need help, post a new topic in the Website Q&A discussion forum. This way the entire community benefits when the answer is posted. You may also feel free to contact the site administration directly with any comments or questions using the contact form.
