Toronto Yoga Leaders: Cynthia Funk and Kimberley Sopinka
Cynthia Funk and Kimberley Sopinka are well established leaders in the Toronto Yoga community. In this interview, the first of four parts, Cynthia and Kimberley describe how they got started and the values that have led them to success.
Their first studio, located at College and Yonge, was opened in 1999, with the second location on the Danforth going online in 2003. The Yoga Sanctuary is also Ontario's first accredited yoga teacher training school. In fact, a number of Sanctuary graduates have gone on to start their own studios around Toronto and beyond.
As you can see in the interview, the dynamic between these two sisters really works. Cynthia covers the teaching role, with a significant track record as both student and teacher. Kimberley, while also an accomplished Yoga practitioner, focuses primarily on the business end of the enterprise. Together they have managed to build one of Toronto's leading Yoga studios and have contributed significantly to the evolution and development of the Toronto Yoga community.
Check out part 2, part 3 and part 4 of this interview and take a look at the profile for The Yoga Sanctuary. The Toronto Yoga Leaders series of articles showcases the people and places that shape the Toronto Yoga community.
